My boat is a 1957 Switzer Craft Shooting Star, powered by a 1958 Mercury Mark 58 (45HP). About 200 57/58 Shooting Stars were manufactured and fewer than 10 are known to have survived.  The Switzer plant was in Crystal Lake,Il.  This is an all wood boat.  It weighs only 235 pounds and runs out at over 45 MPH...I am in the process of upgrading to a 1957 Mark 75 (60 HP "dockbuster") which should increase the speed to the low-mid 50s.  Options include an Atwood "airplane style" bow light and matching "glow stick" stern lights.  The dash plaque is signed by Bob Switzer, origional designer/builder of these boats.
